Great Zimbabwe

Proof of Zimbabwe’s Stone Age and many civilizations is shown by ancient stone structures at Khami, Great Zimbabwe & Dhlo-Dhlo.

Is the National Shrine for where the Zimbabwe Bird [Soapstone Bird Carvings, When the ruins of Great Zimbabwe were excavated by treasure-hunters in the late nineteenth century, five of the carved birds they discovered were taken to South Africa by Cecil Rhodes. Four of the statues were returned to Zimbabwe by the South African government at independence, while the fifth remains at Groote Schuur, Rhodes' former home in Cape Town], is kept, was also known to be the Munhumutapa Empire (also called Monomotapa or Mwene Mutapa Empire). The ruins can be broken down into three distinct architectural groups. They are known as the Hill Complex, the Valley Complex and the famous Great Enclosure. Over 300 structures have been located so far in the Great Enclosure. Located in Masvingo.
