The National Botanic Gardens in Harare are home to 900 species of trees and shrubs. The Desert House has a collection of over 240 plant species from the arid and semi-arid areas of southern Africa. Other major structures in the garden include a tea house, the education building, a nursery and two greenhouses. The garden is closely associated with the National Herbarium of Zimbabwe (SRGH), which houses some 500,000 specimens from the Flora Zambesiaca area of southern Africa.
