The Meaning of the FlagThe flag was the first to use the Pan-African colors of red, yellow, green and black. Red recalls the blood shed by freedom fighters during the struggle for independence. Yellow represents the country's mineral wealth, while green is symbolic of the country's forests. The five pointed black star is the symbol of African emancipation and unity in the struggle against colonialism. --- Designed by Mrs. Theodosia Salome Okoh

'door of no return'Besides Ghana’s beautiful side of being rich in culture, mineral resources, rainforests, beaches and wildlife. There is also the dark side of slavery. Elmina castle build by the Portuguese in 1482 was as trading post for gold and valuable gems, however due to the demand for slaves increased this became a slave port and the human trade lasted for at least 300 years. Many now had a life of slavery in Brazil, the Caribbean and America. The British used Cape Coast Castle as their port as well.
All one can say is let their souls rest in peace.
